Gordon Stewart is one of Britain's most experienced organ teachers. Former students now play in cathedrals throughout the UK, and others teach in music colleges and universities.

Gordon believes that teaching students to teach themselves is basic. The organ differs from other instruments where the player has to create the sound. As J S Bach said once, "playing the organ is not difficult; all you have to do is put your hands and feet over the right notes and push them down".

Gordon believes that good organ playing just looks right. If you can teach students how to
look  right at the console, their playing immediately improves.

Gordon enjoys working with students of all standards who want to get better. He has taught many students who have come to the organ later in life -  many of them have taken up playing following early retirement.
